Here’s the test.
Hold your mobile phone in your left hand, take your right index finger and log on to the internet, using your preferred browser, assuming you have moved in to the digital age and have a “smart” device.
Go to your company’s homepage. What does it look like? Good, bad, indifferent, useable, fiddly, cumbersome?
I read the following interesting article on M-Commerce in the NMA last week and it made for interesting reading it states that “82% of consumers want to buy products on mobile.”
It’s no wonder that around 70% of the vacancies that the Digital team at ReThink are working have a mobile technology slant to them.
NMA M-Commerce
Users want workable accessible web sites on the move that they can actually buy from not just “windows shop” (do you get it?).
Ever been sat with friends and tried to prove your point right in an argument only to be foiled by a useless mobile site, very frustrating.
82% is a lot, is this a market you can afford to miss out on?
If the answer to the above is no then like the other 58% of businesses asked you need to consider a mobile strategy.
Don’t get me wrong, the recruitment industry is probably further behind you in terms of its mobile development but I think we have learnt a lot from the social media boom and we need to step out big and bold in to the mobile world.
If you want to be an Android or iPhone Apps Developer then what can you expect to get paid, well contract (which seems to be the way to go given the short term nature of projects) then your should be pitching it at between £270-350 per day depending on your experience. Permanent salaries are similar to developers at the moment but are likely to rise before they come down.
The Digital Team at ReThink have positions varying from Front End Mobile UI developers to iPhone App Developers and Developers with Mobile experience at the moment.
So what is your mobile strategy and how are you implementing it?
