Following the acquisition of SAIC Oil & Gas Consulting in April 2011 by Wipro, ReThink Energy was approached to assist in the rapid expansion plans for the RTDM practice within Europe. WiPro needed ten senior consultants/systems engineers with OSIsoft Pi skills across the UK, Holland and Italy within the Real-Time Controls & Automation practice to start within two months of interview.
WiPro faced many challenges in finding the right people with these niche skills. There was a general lack of specialist knowledge from recruiters and they had difficulty sourcing specialist skills that are typically only exist in the 'passive' candidate pool. Time was of the essence so long winded recruitment processes that resulted in quality candidates taking other opportunities was not an option.
We organised two consecutive recruitment days at Wipro's London offices. Our recruitment day model was developed specifically to overcome the challenges that businesses face when seeking to make multiple hires in a short period of time.
Prior to the recruitment days, the following tasks were undertaken:
WiPro/ReThink meeting to understand the requirements and define the process
Search conducted across candidate network channels to source, attract and secure niche skills
Reference checks for all 'first cut' potential candidates
First face to face candidate interviews with ReThink
ReThink selected shortlist of potential candidates
Wipro/ReThink conference call to review candidate profiles and agree those to be invited to the recruitment days
Logistical planning of the recruitment days, interview time scheduling, travel arrangements etc. were conducted by ReThink
