Almost everything in life is cyclical; think music, think of the premier league, think of businesses and brands…
This month we’re celebrating ten years in business in Birmingham a long and brilliant cycle of being the tech recruitment front runner in the Midlands.
First off I think myself, our CEO Andy Lord and Rob O’Callaghan the MD of ReThink Recruitment and founder of our Birmingham office, need to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has worked with us, for us, through us, with us and, yes, even those who have worked against us. You made us stronger and better. I hope that doesn’t come across as arrogant, it’s not meant to, we’ve genuinely learnt to improve when we haven’t won.
Fortunately over the 10 years our wins have outweighed our losses by some considerable degree and here’s the numbers from our last decade for the data crunchers amongst you:
- Placed 4,000 candidates – almost 2,500 of them in contractor roles and more than 1,500 in permanent jobs
- Kept three of our original team members and grown the number of ReThink staff to 23
- Accumulated more than 200 contractors who are currently operating through ReThink Birmingham
- Nurtured our current team to average over 4.5 years tenure
We pioneered a customer-centric approach to technical recruitment in the region; we lived and died by our service, aligning the team to accounts rather than being technology-specific. Gone were the pushy sales people with fat tie knots, in were the consultants who believed in building relationships and a business with longevity. We operated on trust and knowledge, something our competition didn’t quite get….yet!
As I said, everything is cyclical and now (some of) our competitors offer a “grown up” recruitment environment for consultant and managers to thrive in, so we’ve done it again. Responding to the market and our customers’ demands we’ve developed a new approach in our Practice model and we’re leading the pack once more. We’ve maintained our customer centric approach and added specialist practices to this. Why and what has this done? Because we needed a platform to let our leadership team develop and grow and we needed a team that were immersed in our clients’ world.
It’s not all about us though and over the 10 years we’ve given back to the local community. We’ve raised money for a local leukaemia support charity www.bpositive.org.uk by cycling non-stop for 10 hours per day on our office exercise bike and we’ve given our time to Sifa Fireside homeless shelter www.sifafireside.co.uk , we’ve even sponsored the Kings Heath Sports under 9’s!
We’re a bunch of proud Brummies (and honoraries!) and we do whatever we can to make the city great! We’ll ensure the community’s a big part of our activities in the next ten years too.
I can’t tell you what the next 10 years hold for the market, for ReThink or for technology but it’s safe to say 2017, our 11th year in business, will be a brilliant one.
